Kazakhstan eyeing to establish close co-op with Turkish research organizations in agriculture

Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Agriculture is looking to establish close cooperation with Turkish research organizations to hold joint studies in the area of agriculture, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Agriculture Saparkhan Omarov said, Trend reports citing the ministry.

Omarov made the statement during a bilateral meeting with the Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli.

During the meeting, the Kazakh side presented the priority areas for the development of Kazakhstan’s agro-industrial complex and also talked about the measures of state support for the industry, investment attractiveness of the Kazakh agro-industry.

Omarov noted during the meeting a number of successfully implemented joint projects of Turkey and Kazakhstan, as well as 13 new investment projects worth $500 million.

Omarov also raised the issues of including Kazakh Kazbeef LLP and Aktobe Meat Cluster in Turkey’s list of reliable exporters of agricultural products and expressed Kazakhstan's interest in developing cooperation in the field of building trade and logistics infrastructure, processing agricultural raw materials, producing high-quality and affordable food products where Turkey has achieved notable success.

Concluding the meeting Omarov noted that Kazakhstan highly appreciates Turkey's experience in developing the textile industry, leather, and wool processing and hopes to further develop bilateral cooperation in these areas.
