Georgia sees increase in berry exports

Some $3.8 million worth berries (665 tons) have been exported from Georgia from January through September, 2020, Trend reports via the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

The increase is 295.8 percent year-on-year.

According to the Geostat, exports of berries from Georgia are growing year-on-year since 2018. However, $960,100 worth of berries were exported in January through September, 2019, which is 117.5 percent up ($441,300) comparing to the same period of 2018. Export growth made up by 295.8 percent in January through September 2020.

The main export market for Georgian berries is Russia. Some 3.6 million worth berries were exported from Georgia to Russia. However, Georgian berries are also exported to United Arab Emirates, Poland, Armenia, Ukraine, Qatar.

• Russia - $3.6 million, growth - 340.7 percent (2019 - $816,800);
• United Arab Emirates - $57,500, decrease - 41 percent (2019 - $97,500);
• Poland - $54,000 (no exports in previous years);
• Armenia - $50,100, growth - 189.1 percent (2019 - $19,400);
• Ukraine - $23,100 (no exports in previous years);
• Qatar - $16,800, growth - 17.5 percent (2019 - $14,300).
