Activities of small mines being restored in Iran

Iran has fulfilled its plan for the restoration and development of small mines by 103 percent in the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 to March 21, 2021), Executor of the plan for the restoration of small mines of Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), Reza Azimi said, Trend reports citing the organization’s website.

The official stressed that in this direction, it was planned to restore and develop the activities of 200 mines over the current Iranian year. The activities 206 mines have been restored and developed, so far.

Azimi added that about 2,600 people were employed at these mines. And about 6,900 tons of mining materials, metals, non-metals, decorative stones and construction materials will be extracted annually from these mines.

"So far, a total of 812 mines have been identified under the plan in the current Iranian year, and a number of steps have been taken in 444 mines," he said.

Azimi noted that the activities of 146 mines were restored in Iran in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020), and a number of steps were taken in 1,020 mines. It was determined that there were 4,490 inactive mines in Iran in the last Iranian year.
