BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 10. The trade turnover between Iran and Azerbaijan amounted to 48,200 tons worth about $41.8 million in the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2022), the Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi told Trend.
According to Latifi, the trade turnover between the two countries increased by 40.6 percent in value, while decreasing by 24.5 percent in volume compared to the 1st month of last Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2021).
“Meanwhile, in the first month of last Iranian year, the trade turnover between the two countries amounted to 63,800 tons worth about $29.7 million,” the spokesman added.
The customs official noted that Iran imported 2,870 tons of goods worth about $1.15 million from Azerbaijan for the first month of the current Iranian year, which is an increase of 280 percent in value and 151 percent in volume compared to the same month last Iranian year.
Whereas Iran had imported a total of 755 tons of goods worth about $457,000 from Azerbaijan in the same month last Iranian year, he said.
Latifi also pointed out that Iran exported about 38,900 tons of goods worth $47 million to Azerbaijan for the 1st month of the current Iranian year, which is an increase of 34.4 percent in value, while a decrease of 25.8 percent in volume compared to the same month last Iranian year.
The spokesman emphasized that so, Iran’s exports to Azerbaijan for the first month last Iranian year amounted to 63,400 tons worth $28.9 million.
