BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 12. Iran aims to boost the value of its start-ups’ exports to $4 billion in the next Iranian year (March 20, 2024 through March 20, 2025), Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Affairs Mehdi Safari said, Trend reports.

He made the announcement at a press conference in Tehran on December 12.

Safari also said that the value of exports of Iran’s start-up companies reached $2 billion in the current year (March 21, 2023 through December 12, 2023), according to the data from Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

Regarding Iran’s non-oil exports, Safari said that Iran has a lot of potential in this area. He said that Iran is in talks with several countries in the west of Africa and Asia to increase its non-oil exports in the future.

Overall, Iran’s non-oil trade with the world for the first eight months of this year was $74.1 billion, involving about 115 million tons of goods. This was an increase of 7.2 percent in value and 22.6 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.

The Iranian government is focusing on providing loans to start-up companies in various fields, including energy, agriculture and industry, in order to benefit more from their potential.

Thus, Iranian banks lent 1.28 quadrillion rials (about $30.5 billion) to 2,172 local start-up companies in the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2023).
