Baku to Host Energy Cooperation Meeting between Azerbaijan and Greece

Azerbaijan, Baku, 10 November / Trend , corr. N.Abdullayeva /The Energy cooperation issues between Azerbaijan and Greece will be discussed during the visit of Christos Folias, the Greek Minister of Development, to Baku.

Greece intends to purchase about 1bln cu m of gas from Azerbaijan, Folias said to journalists in Baku. Greece will also stand as a transit country to transport Azerbaijan's gas to European markets.

The Greek DEPA oil and gas company is prepared to launch talks to transport Azerbaijan's gas from the gas-condensate field - Shah Daniz to Greece. Folias will hold meetings with SOCAR and Azerbaijan's Fuel and Energy Ministry.

The talks will be held during Folias's participation at the 4th Energy summit," a source from Greek's embassy in Azerbaijan said to Trend .

The 4th Energy summit on energy security issues in the Caspian, Black and Baltic Seas region will be held in Baku on 13 and 14 November.

The summit will be attended by the presidents of Poland, Turkey, Ukraine, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Romania and Georgia.

The 1st Energy summit was held in Krakow in May and 2nd - in Vilnius in October 2007.
