In 2008, the volume of the Kazakh oil transportation from the Tengiz field via the Azerbaijani rail amounted to about 1 million tons, the chief engineer of the Azerbaijan State Railway Gurban Nazirov said.

"Last year, we transported about 1 million tons of Tengiz oil. It is difficult to say how much of the Kazakh oil, we can transport this year, as recently decline in oil supplies from Kazakhstan has been observed," Nazirov said, taking part in the 37th session of the Ministerial Meeting of the Organization of Railways Cooperation, held today in Astana.

With regard to the supply of grain from Kazakhstan, Nazirov said there is no change, and the volumes are kept at the level of last year.

"Wheat from Kazakhstan is brought. Volumes remained at last year's level - from 10,000 to 30,000 tons of grain a month from Kazakhstan," he said.

Nazirov added that through a joint grain terminal in Baku, at present transshipment of the dry cargo ships is carried out up to 3,000 tons of grain to the elevator, where they continue to be exported to Azerbaijani consumers. "Now grain supply will be implemented from Kazakhstan to Georgia via this route," Nazirov said.
