A new gas turbine power station has been launched in the Chardzhou district of Lebap region of Turkmenistan, not far from the state Lebap power station, Trend reports with reference to the Jeyhun-news information-analytical portal of Turkmenistan.

According to the information, the gas turbine station was built by the Japanese Sumitomo Corporation. The total capacity of the power plant is 432 megawatts. It has three gas turbine units from Mitsubishi Power, Ltd. The power of each of them is equal to 144 megawatts. They are environmentally sustainable and use advanced technologies in their production.

It is noted that the project was financed by the Japan Bank for International Cooperation under a loan agreement with the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan.

Earlier it was reported that the commissioning of the new hydroelectric power station will create the necessary technical conditions for uninterrupted power supply to the developing economy of the eastern region of the country, create new jobs, and also become the main source of electricity that will be exported to neighboring countries.

It was also noted that the commissioning of the power plant will be another step towards the implementation of plans, which provide for bringing the total annual volume of electricity produced in Turkmenistan to 33 billion kilowatt-hours over the next seven years.
