Azerbaijan, Baku, June 12 / Trend , S. Babayeva/

Azerbaijani Communication and Information Technology Minister Ali Abbasov will pay a working visit to New York, the ministry said.

"The visit, which will take place on June 15-18, aims to gain UN support in realization of a project to lay transnational Eurasian super-information main," the ministry said.

The aim of the project is to create powerful information infrastructure in order to access affordable and quality internet services for the development of electronic information and electronic markets.

During the visit, Abbasov is expected to make broad presentations and briefings at the UN headquarters and to meet with ambassadors of the UN member states.

Azerbaijan's Communications Ministry has recently conducted an extended presentation of the project for the ambassadors from 20 countries in the country.

The Ministry believes that the project will enable participant countries to develop not only information technology but also social sector and other areas of the economy.

Experts believe there should be a single management body to implement the project. All the countries concerned should take part in the development of a unified strategy to establish a network to regulate tariffs.

The cost of the project has not yet been determined. The initiator of the project is the Azerbaijan government and the Department for Trade and Development of United States.
