Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) is ceasing operations of its divisions in Turkmenistan, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmenportal information portal.
The reason for this decision was to reduce the staff of UIA and reduce the cost of representative offices.
According to the Agency, in addition to Turkmenistan, UIA's activities have also been discontinued in Uzbekistan and Belarus.
Earlier, Ukraine expressed interest in resuming air traffic with Turkmenistan, which was suspended due to the pandemic.
As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine previously told Trend, economic cooperation between the two countries has great potential and prospects.
“This includes increasing exports to Turkmenistan of Ukrainian engineering, electric power, and instrument-making products, as well as the implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects: the construction of bridges, regional airports, underground passages, subways, etc.,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine said earlier.
