Cargo transport by all means of transport up in Kazakhstan

A total of 380.2 million tons of cargo was transported in Kazakhstan by all means of transport in October 2021, which is 2.6 percent more than in October 2020, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

In turn, the volume of cargo transported over the first 10 months of 2021 amounted to 3.1 billion tons, which is 1.7 percent less year-on-year compared to 3.2 billion tons over the same period of last year.

Thus, the majority of the cargo was transported in Kazakhstan’s Karaganda region. The volume of cargo transported in the region amounted to 73.5 million tons in October and 586.7 million tons over the reporting period of 2021, which is 2.9 percent more and 2.7 percent less than during the same period last year, respectively.

Karaganda region is followed by the East Kazakhstan region with 61.4 million tons transported in October 2021 (down by 5.6 percent compared to October 2020). The volume of cargo transported in the region during the reporting period amounted to 496.8 million tons, which compared to 526.3 million during the same period last year, indicates a 5.4-percent decrease.

Kostanay region takes third place country-wide by the cargo transported in October 2021 (32.9 million tons, up by 1.6 percent). The volume of cargo transported in the city over 10 months of 2021 amounted to 247.06 million tons, which is 3 percent less than during the same period last year (254.6 million tons).

The least cargo volume was transported in the West Kazakhstan region. The transported cargo volume stood at 5.6 million tons of cargo in October 2021, which is 9.6 percent more than in October 2020. The volume of cargo transported from January through October 2021 was 45.6 million tons, which is 10.8 percent less year on year.
