New Portuguese ambassador to Uzbekistan presents credentials

Newly appointed Portuguese Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Uzbekistan Pedro Nuno Bartolo (residence in Moscow) has presented his credentials to Uzbek Foreign Minister. The credentials were addressed to Uzbek President Islam Karimov, the press service of the Foreign Ministry said today.

The sides exchanged views on intensifying the cooperation.

It was stressed that the interaction in the format Uzbekistan - European Union, as well as within international organizations, including UN, OSCE has an important place in the Uzbek-Portuguese dialogue.

Much attention was paid to state and prospects of expanding the mutual trade and investment partnership. There was mutual interest in leading Portuguese companies' participation in implementing mutually beneficial projects using new technologies in the free industrial economic zone "Navoi", special industrial zone "Angren" having significant tax and customs preferences.

The sides also discussed urgent international and regional issues.
