Georgia does not set any preconditions for talks with Russia, Georgian Prime Minister's Special Representative for Relations with Russia Zurab Abashidze told journalists.
He noted that the meeting between him and the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry will take place in the near future in a European country.
"It will be an informal meeting mostly technical in nature. It will discuss a range of issues of interest to both parties and the place and time of the meeting in a new format," Abashidze said.
He noted that the Georgian side has concrete proposals for 'new forms of a communication format'.
Abashidze stressed that the meeting may be held in Switzerland and "most likely, the Russian side will be represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin."
"I think the fact that Karasin represents Russia at the Geneva talks will not harm the negotiations as we will discuss the different format of the meetings," he stressed.
The Special Representative of the Prime Minister said that he welcomed the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry that Russia is ready to establish trade and cultural relations with Georgia.
Military action was launched in the Georgian region of South Ossetia on Aug.8, 2008. Later Russian troops occupied the city of Tskhinvali and drove the Georgian military back. Russia recognised the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia in late August.
