Russian Railways (RZD) is going to open an office in Iran, according to Islamic Republic Railways(RAI).
The news was announced by an RZD representative during an Iranian-Russian economic comission, RAI reported November 1.
The representative referred to the Garmsar-Incheh Borun as key to RZD's involvement in Iran and highlighted the Qazvin-Rasht-Astara railway's importance in the North-South corridor.
The North-South corridor will connect Russia via Azerbaijan and Iran to the Persian Gulf and is deemed to become a major transit route between India and Europe.
