BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 20. Azerbaijan’s efforts to recover funds earned from the export of agricultural products to the country continue, the nation's General Prosecutor's Office said in a recent statement, Trend reports.
The entity noted that based on the data received from the State Customs Committee, some businesses exporting various products to foreign countries had failed to return the funds to the Republic of Azerbaijan in the corresponding currency. The prosecutor's offices are initiating criminal cases and conducting preliminary investigations as a result.
To date, as a result of actions taken by the prosecutors of Agdash, Kurdamir, Astara, Ujar, Absheron, Khachmaz, Beylagan, Khizi, Sabirabad, Goranboy, and Agstafa districts, and the city of Mingachevir, part of the funds received by some businesses from the sale of agricultural products exported abroad, amounting to more than $41.3 million (over 70.2 million manat at the corresponding exchange rate), has been returned to the authorized banks in Azerbaijan.
The prosecutor's office continues to take necessary procedural measures to claw back the funds that various individuals have pocketed by exporting goods and products to the authorized banks in the country.
