Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr E. Huseynli / Given political processes in Azerbaijan meeting of opposition leaders is impossible, the Chairman of opposition Citizenship and Development Party (CDP), a co-chairman of Azadlig, Ali Aliyev, said to Trend on 22 September.
"I think opposition parties should strive for common purpose separately," he said.
On the threshold of presidential elections the representatives of the opposition make different proposals regarding cooperation. A member of Musavat parliament group, Panah Huseyn, suggested holding of a meeting including presidential candidates and opposition leaders. The Azadlig bloc which boycotts the elections and the parties intending to take part in the elections do no cooperate.
Azadlyg includes three opposition parties - the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), the Liberal Party (LP), and the Citizenship and Development Party (CDP).
The Chairman of the CDP said that cooperation between the opposition leaders would be possible in future. Azadlig opposes false promises. The bloc can admit new members, Aliyev said.
The Citizenship and Development Party was established in 2006. Before the establishment the members of the CDP were the members of the Azerbaijan National Independence Party (ANIP). As a result of a split in the ANIP, the supporters of Ali Aliyev held a congress and established the CDP.
