Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend I.Khalilova, S.Aliyev / The average monthly salary in Azerbaijan amounts to $230. It is a very big indicator in the CIS, said the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, on 22 October at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to the social-economic development of the Country in the recent nine months and the tasks being faced. The average monthly pension in the Country totals $70.
"We are not satisfied with it, but the positive dynamic show that the level of the pension will increase each year," the President said.
The statistics in the CIS countries show that the pension makes up 15-20% of the average monthly salary. This figure in Azerbaijan equals 30%.
According to the President, 294.000 people in Azerbaijan receive targeted social aid. Each family receives AZN 80 (nearly $100) per month.
"Yet there are poor people in Azerbaijan, but indeed this indicator decreases each year. I am sure that as a result of 2007 this indicator will be less, but as there are such people, the State should help them," the President said.
