Azerbaijan, Baku, 21 July / Trend U.Ismayilova/ Tariffs for public utilities will not change in Azerbaijan by the end of 2008, Head of Azerbaijani Tariff Council's Secretariat Elshan Asadov said at a workshop devoted to joint project of the Tariff Council and USAID 'Regulation & Tariffs' on 21 July.

"Currently, the Tariff Council is discussing tariffs not regarding consumers. The Council is considering ecological tariffs, proposals on which came from the Ministry, as well as tariffs for commercials," said Asadov.

Speaking on population's utilities expenditures, Asadov said share of utilities expenditures comprises 7-8% of population's gross expenditures at the moment, while in developed countries the figure is up to 20%.

The Tariff Council of Azerbaijan was approved by a presidential decree dated 26 December 2005 and is a collegial body of executive power. Council's main commissions are to control observation of prices regulated by the state in conformity with country's acting legislative acts.
