The International Monetary Fund's (IMF) Board of Directors has allocated the latest tranche of a loan worth $153 million to Georgia. According to the IMF board, Georgia intends to further consider the program as a "preventive" measure, the Georgian Finance Ministry said.
The IMF Cooperation Program in Georgia will last until June 14, 2011. Its goal is to support Tbilisi's macroeconomic policy by replenishing foreign exchange reserves and enhancing investor confidence.
The program's total value will hit about $1 billion.
