Exports from Iran’s Markazi Province shrink

The volume of exports from Iran’s Markazi Province decreased by 15 percent during the first 7 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through October 21, 2020) compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of Markazi Province Customs Office, Esmaeil Hosseini said, Trend reports citing Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration.

Hosseini noted that 924,000 tons of goods worth about $431 million were exported from the province during the reporting period.

“The goods from the Markazi Province were exported to 84 countries, including Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkey, and Iraq,” he added.

The director-general said that the exported goods were mainly hydrocarbon products, light, and heavy polyethylene products, foodstuffs, household appliances, and metal products.

According to him, 79,000 tons of goods worth $197 million were imported to Iran's Markazi Province within seven months.

Hosseini stressed that the imports decreased by 29 percent in terms of value and 25 percent in terms of volume compared to the same period last year.

“These goods were imported from 43 countries, including the UAE, Turkey, China, India, and Iraq. The imported goods were mainly raw materials and spare parts for plants’ manufacturing equipment,” he said.

The director-general also added that the Markazi Province's customs revenues from value-added tax amounted to 820 billion rials (about $19.5 million) over seven months. This is a decrease of 29 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Hosseini emphasized that the province’s total customs revenues amounted to 1.46 trillion rials (about $34.7 million) during the first seven months of the current Iranian year.
