Capacity of Iranian ports increases

The capacity of Iranian ports has increased by more than 100 million tons during the current Iranian government (which has been in power since August 2013), Trend reports citing Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran.

According to the report, if the potential of Iranian ports was 180 million tons 8 years ago, this figure would increase to 285 million tons by the end of the current Iranian government (August 2021).

"If the container capacity of Iranian ports was 4.58 million TEU containers 8 years ago, this figure would reach 8.5 million TEU containers by the end of the current Iranian government," the report said.

In addition, the passenger capacity of Iranian ports was 14 million in the first year of the current Iranian government, and this figure will increase to 25 million by the end of the government's operation, the report said.

According to the report, a number of major works have been carried out in the ports of Chabahar, Amirabad, Anzali, Bushehr, Shahid Rajaee, Imam Khomeini, as well as, various infrastructures have been built and developed in these ports.

"Also, certain work is being carried out in Anzali, Khorramshahr, Bandar Lengeh, Khark and Genaveh ports of Iran," the report said.
