BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 7. International transport companies are showing interest in developing their activities in Azerbaijan, Kamran Habibov, head of the country's Freight Forwarding Association (FFAA), director of Hellmann Worldwide Logistics LLC, said, Trend reports.

He made the remark at the Azerbaijani Trade Forum themed "Opportunities, Current Situation, and Challenges for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)" in Baku today.

Habibov emphasized the importance of further developing the country's logistics sector.

"We are witnessing a continuous growth in transit volumes through Azerbaijan, but it's time for the next step. We must transform Azerbaijan into a regional trade hub, which entails creating conditions to attract global manufacturers interested in establishing regional warehouses and distribution centers here.

From this location, one can distribute goods not only to the South Caucasus countries but also to states in Central Asia. Overall, international transport companies are showing interest in operating in Azerbaijan," he explained.

According to him, such measures will stimulate the development of all sectors of the economy, including trade and logistics.

Habibov also emphasized the importance of developing specific investment programs in this area to attract investments in logistics, citing existing support programs for production implemented by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economy as an example.

"It is also essential to create investment incentives for logistics market participants, such as vehicle and warehouse owners. This is especially important for SMEs, which face challenges in implementing costly digital solutions. We should consider developing comprehensive support and stimulation programs for them," the FFAA's head added.
