Kazakhstan's trade turnover with EAEU countries up by 12%

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 13. Kazakhstan's trade with the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) reached $8.9 billion from January through April 2023, marking a significant nominal increase of 12 percent compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.

In the reporting period, Kazakhstan's exports amounted to $3.5 billion, experiencing a substantial growth of 47 percent. On the other hand, imports stood at $5.4 billion, showing a slight decrease of 3 percent.

In terms of the overall external trade turnover of Kazakhstan with EAEU countries, Russia accounted for 92.2 percent, followed by Kyrgyzstan with 4.5 percent, Belarus with 3.2 percent, and Armenia with 0.1 percent.

The largest share in exports with the EAEU countries fell on machinery, equipment, vehicles, devices and apparatuses - 28.2 percent, followed by products of chemical and related industries - 26.7 percent.

In terms of imports from EAEU countries, products of animal and plant origin, as well as prepared food items, dominated the structure with a share of 20.5 percent. Metals and metal products accounted for 18.6 percent, while machinery, equipment, vehicles, devices, and apparatuses represented 17.4 percent of the import structure.
