BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 26. Development of two small hydropower plants (HPPs) located on the Chon-Zhargylchak river in the Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan, is currently underway, with the support of the Kyrgyzstan JIA Business Association, a source at the association told Trend.

The source indicated that these HPPs, designed by "Chon Zhargylchak Green Energy" LLC and "Kichi Zhargylchak Green Energy" LLC, will collectively have a capacity of 12 MW. Preparatory work is currently in progress to initiate the construction phase.

"Ongoing negotiations are being conducted with equipment suppliers, as well as providers of metal and plastic pipes, along with other essential materials. It's noteworthy that this project is being carried out with the involvement of Russian investors. The construction is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2025," the source said.

JIA is a non-profit organization that operates with the support of foreign investments. This association brings together over 1,400 companies, encompassing small, medium, and large businesses, not only within Kyrgyzstan but also on an international scale.

In October of this year, Kyrgyzstan's President Sadyr Japarov, said during a meeting with members of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy and representatives from leading German companies in Berlin that there were 51 small and medium-sized hydropower plants, along with 16 solar and wind power stations of varying capacities, under construction in Kyrgyzstan at that moment.
