Iran marks World Handicrafts Day

Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHTO) celebrates the World Handicrafts Day across the country by organizing various art exhibitions and conferences, Press TV reported.

The move aims to encourage artists by promoting their handicrafts products on June 10 -- the World Handicrafts Day.

The organization is taking steps introduce the traditional arts of various regions in Iran to other nations and countries.

"Iranian handicrafts should be introduced to the world to make the best of its potentialities in the international market," said Esfandiar Rahim-Mashaie, a vice-president and head of ICHHTO.

Iran believes the youngsters can play an important role in reinforcing the importance of handicrafts in the cultural heritage of the nation.

"Handicrafts and traditional arts reflect the identity of the Iranians and form a great part of the Iranians' life in history," said Rahim-Mashaie.
