(nato.int) - Top military officers from NATO and Partner nations will come together in Brussels for their autumn meetings on 15 and 16 November, two weeks ahead of the Riga Summit, to shape and inform military advice for the North Atlantic Council.

Over the course of two days, the Chiefs of Defence will look to validate and finalise the detailed work done over the last year to address the latest developments in military policies, concepts, and initiatives, reports Trend.

We will be very much focused on current operations and the ways and means to build on our ability to sustain these over the long term, said General Ray Henault, Chairman of the Military Committee and NATO's top officer. Our intent is to bring forward to the political authorities of the Alliance, consensus-based military advice on a wide range of issues, including the development of capabilities and initiatives in time for the deliberations at the Riga Summit.

Formal meetings of the NATO Military Committee at the level of Chiefs of Defence Staff take place twice a year in Brussels. A third meeting is also held once a year outside Brussels, and is sponsored by NATO countries on a rotating basis.
