More than 500 trillion rials (about $14 billion) of cheques were bounced by the Iranian banking system in the first nine months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-December 21, 2014).
The figure showed 35.1 percent rise year on year, Iran's ISNA news agency reported on Jan. 25.
According to official statistics, 17,000-20,000 cheques are bounced everyday in Iran.
In Iranian calendar year 1392 (March 2013-March 2014), 5.082 million cheques were bounced in Iran.
