Georgia Materials 19 December 2006 18:26 (UTC +04:00)

(Civil) - The Georgian side is ready to participate in an informal meeting of the co-chairmen of the quadripartite Joint Control Commission (JCC) over South Ossetia, involving the Georgian, South Ossetian, Russian and Russia's North Ossetian sides, the Office of the Georgian State Minister for Conflict Resolution Issues reported on December 19.

The South Ossetian side has already offered to hold a meeting in frames of the JCC in late December, reports Trend.

The Georgian side has numerously voiced its principled position regarding the ineffectiveness of the Joint Control Commission. Despite this, in order to avoid possible negative consequences because of a long pause in the negotiating process the Georgian side has given its consent to participate in an informal meeting of the co-chairmen, a statement issued by the Georgian State Minister's Office reads.
