Tehran, Iran, Sept. 9

By Mehdi Sepahvand – Trend:

Iranian Foreign Ministry’s spokesman Bahram Qassemi has called on the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council to stop supporting Saudi Arabia’s stance on regional crises.

“The council should firmly ask Saudi Arabia to end killing people in Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Bahrain,” Qassemi said, Mehr news agency reported Sept. 9.

The council should do so if they are really working to help establishing congenial coexistence in the region, he said.

“If they continue this way and support [Saudi Arabia], they will, in short term, be afflicted with Riyadh’s destabilizing policies,” the Iranian official stated.

Tehran accuses Saudi Arabia of contributing to crises in Syria and Iraq, supporting non-democratic parties in Yemen and helping the Bahraini ruling party in suppressing opposition.
