President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today received the Pakistan`s parliamentary delegation led by the deputy chairman of Pakistan`s Senate Mir Jan Jamali.
The Head of State underlined the friendly and partnership ties between Azerbaijan and Pakistan are developing successfully. President Ilham Aliyev thanked the Pakistani government for its supporting Azerbaijan in settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and recognizing the Khojaly events as genocide. President Aliyev emphasized importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation in all spheres including interparliamentary ties. The Head of State touched on the economic cooperation between the two countries, and highlighted necessity to intensify activity of Joint Intergovernmental Economic Commission. President Ilham Aliyev described as an `example` the support both sides provide to each other within international organizations.
In turn, the Deputy Chairman recalled his first visit to Azerbaijan in 1993 and national leader Heydar Aliyev`s important steps towards strengthening the Azerbaijan`s statehood. Mir Jan Jamali said he witnessed great development in Azerbaijan over the period. Pakistani official pointed out that his country would continue to support Azerbaijan`s position in the settlement of Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Jamali emphasized importance of expanding cooperation between the sides in various fields including economic and interparliamentary ties.
