Iran to boost relations with Turkey under Rouhani

Iran’s new administration will boost bilateral relations with Turkey, Iran’s president Hassan Rouhani underlined during a phone talk with Turkey’s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Iran's new administration will boost bilateral relations with Turkey, Iran's president Hassan Rouhani underlined during a phone talk with Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Mehr news agency reported.

Iran will cooperate with Turkey in regional and global issues Rouhani said, adding that, "we all should effort for restoring peace and stability in the region".

He expressed hope that Iran-Turkey cooperation would prevent violence in the region.

Edrogan, in his turn, on behalf of Turkey's government and people congratulated Rouhani on his election as president, and expressed interest in visiting Iran.

He also called for further development of Iran-Turkey relations in all issues.

It should be recalled that, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu had a meeting in Tehran with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Aug 5.

During the meeting, Davutoglu and Rouhani discussed bilateral cooperation and regional issues.

Davutoglu was the guest of Rouhani`s swearing ceremony which was held on August 4.

On August 3, Rouhani met with the Leader of Iran's Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, who officially endorsed Hassan Rohani as the country's new president for a four-year term.

On 14 June 2013, Hassan Rouhani won the presidential elections in Iran, gathering over 50 percent of total votes.

Rouhani previously said that he will work towards the removal of western sanctions, adding that his government will adopt moderate policies and actions.
