India's External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid will travel to Tehran tomorrow on a three-day visit to attend the 17th meeting of the India-Iran Joint Commission, IRNA reported.

He is the co-chairperson of the Joint Commission along with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi, said Ministry of External Affairs in a press release issued today in New Delhi.

During his stay in Iran, Salman Khurshid will also inaugurate the Indian Culture Centre in Tehran and interact with the Indian community, it said.

The 16th Session of the India-Iran Joint Commission was held in New Delhi on July 8-9, 2010. 30-member delegation of Iran led by Shamseddin Hosseini participated in that meeting.

India and Iran have been holding discussions at regular intervals on issues related to economic cooperation under the Joint Commission mechanism, which was established in July 1983.

The meeting of the India-Iran Joint Commission provided an opportunity to review bilateral economic and cultural cooperation.
