Revenue from honey exports from Georgia increased 15 times on an annualized basis for 7 months of 2021, Trend reports with reference to the National Statistical Office of Georgia (Geostat).
According to the data, from January through July of this year, Georgia earned $397,000 from the export of 116.3 tons of honey, while in the same period last year, the export of honey did not exceed 3 tons ($25,700).
According to Geostat, the top 3 export destinations of Georgian honey are as follows:
Bulgaria - 49 tons / $107,700;
France - 43 tons / $196,900;
Russia - 10 tons / $7,500.
From January through July 2021, Georgia's foreign trade turnover reached $7.48 billion, which is 21.7 percent more than the same period last year.
Georgia's exports amounted to $2.27 billion (an increase of 27.8 percent), and imports - $5.2 billion (an increase of 19.3 percent).
The trade balance remained negative during the specified period - at the level of $2.93 billion.
