BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 23. A number of Pakistani companies representing the pharmaceutical industry are interested in entering the Kazakh market, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Pakistan Yerzhan Kistafin told Trend.
"Today we are negotiating in the fields of agriculture and mechanical engineering. We are also currently actively negotiating in the fields of the light industry and the textile industry. There are a number of companies from Pakistan representing the pharmaceutical industry that are interested in entering the Kazakhstan market," he said.
As Kistafin noted, Pakistani goods have already made their way into the Kazakh market.
"Another thing is that these products enter our market through third countries. I'll give you a simple example. Surgical instruments. Pakistan is actually the number one producer in the world. These products from Pakistan are bought by European countries, the US, Japan and so on. And these surgical instruments produced in Pakistan come to Kazakhstan's market precisely through the countries that I mentioned. Our task is to build cooperation in a direct format. That is, we must connect manufacturers in Pakistan directly with potential partners in Kazakhstan. And I hope that this year we will see the first results of our joint work," the ambassador noted.
Furthermore, the ambassador made it clear that Kazakhstan and Pakistan are in talks to hammer out the production of construction materials in both nations.
"The construction market is actively growing in our countries. And manufacturers of building materials on both sides are interested in developing joint production in the territories of both countries," Kistafin concluded.
Meanwhile, the volume of trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Pakistan amounted to $52.5 million in 2023, which is 40 percent less than in 2022 ($73.5 million).
Kazakh exports to Pakistan last year amounted to $5.7 million, while imports from Pakistan amounted to $46.8 million.
