Value of Iran’s caviar exports reaches $1.3M

Iran has exported more than 570 kilograms of caviar valued at $1.3 million in the first half of the current calendar year (started March 20).

The volume of Iran’s caviar export has dropped by 18.48 percent in the mentioned period, ISNA news agency reported Oct. 24.

However the value of the country’s caviar exports has increased by 21.8 percent as Iran sold a kilogram of caviar at $2,397 in the mentioned period.

The value of a kilogram of Iran’s caviar last year in the same period stood at $1,580.

Spain, Germany, the UAE, the UK, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, France, Qatar, Canada and Malaysia were among the main importers of Iran’s caviar.

Iran harvested more than 1.5 tons of caviar in its fish farms over the past Iranian year, indicating a 25-percent increase year-on-year.

Iran’s Fisheries Organization plans to harvest 100 tons of caviar from fish farms by 2021.
