BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 30. The regional seminar on aviation safety and risk assessment organized by the Permanent Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) of the International Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia (or TRACECA) in Baku has become an effective platform for the exchange of experience on safe service provision in the air transport system and the assessment of current risks, the head of the Department of Aviation Security of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Republic of Moldova, Alexandr Fiti, told Trend.
"In particular, the presence of new threats to aviation security in several TRACECA countries related to military actions on the territory of Ukraine was discussed in Baku. In my speech, I noted that the key tool to ensure aviation security is international cooperation. The operational exchange of information between those bodies responsible for the safety of air transportation is vital. Such meetings, as in Baku, allow to discuss topical issues directly, without intermediaries," the Moldovan representative said.
He described as objectively useful the understanding of the vision of representatives of TRACECA member states regarding cybersecurity threats, as well as urgent threats related to the presence of cruise missiles in the Black Sea region (due to the active phase of the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine).
"Such threats carry a very negative potential; they cannot be ignored. These are very serious circumstances that are a source of threats to the safety of air transportation in the region of Europe. We held specialized discussions on this issue in Baku," Fiti emphasized.
