Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has discussed issues of regional security at a meeting with the president of the European Parliament Martin Schulz in Brussels.

The Georgian presidential administration told Trend that the parties have discussed the situation in the region and ways to reduce tensions.

Saakashvili and Schulz have also touched upon the negotiations between Georgia and the EU on free trade and a visa free regime. They stressed that the successful conclusion of these negotiations will be beneficial to both parties.

They have also discussed the internal situation in Georgia and preparation for the parliamentary elections.
