German Ambassador Hubert Knirsch and Georgian Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili have signed a sustainable development agreement on a grant of 5.24 million euros for the biodiversity conservation project, Trend reports via the press service of the German Embassy in Tbilisi.
According to the statement of the embassy, the project itself is worth around 24 million euros.
The German non-profit Caucasus Nature Fund (CNF) additionally granted Georgia with 40 million euros for nature conservation in the South Caucasus, the statement said.
“Germany undertakes to continue to support Georgia in particular in the areas of vocational training, promotion of the private sector, energy and energy efficiency, sustainable urban development and good governance”, the German Embassy said.
Meanwhile, Khutsishvili also signed a 24-million euro grant agreement with German state development bank (KfW) in June.
Since the establishment of relations between the countries in 1992, Germany has supported Georgia with over 1.3 billion euros.
