US increases import of Azerbaijani oil

The US imported 3.715 million barrels of oil from Azerbaijan in January-August 2016, as compared to 3.054 million barrels during the same period of 2015, said a message posted on the website of the US Energy Information Administration (EIA).

The country imported 4.82 million barrels of oil from Azerbaijan in 2015, as compared to 8.4 million barrels in 2014.

Azerbaijani oil Azeri Light is mainly transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline to Turkey’s Ceyhan port.

Azeri Light is also exported from Georgia’s Supsa port, to which the oil is delivered via the Baku-Supsa pipeline.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijani oil is exported from Georgia’s Black Sea port of Batumi, to which the oil is delivered from Baku via railway, as well as from Russia’s Novorossiysk port – via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline.
