Azerbaijan is a country with very exiting future and Great Britain pays a great attention to the cooperation with this country, British Energy Minister Charles Hendry told to a news conference on Thursday.
According to him, more than 50 percent of investment that flow to Azerbaijan comes from Great Britain. Minister said that besides oil and gas sector, there are many other fields of Azerbaijani economy, which have prospects for cooperation between the two countries.
British BP Company is very active in oil and gas sector of Azerbaijan. So far, BP has invested 20 billion pounds in the oil and gas sector of Azerbaijan and further is going to invest some more 20 billion pounds, he stressed.
Talking about gas reserves of Azerbaijan, the Minister said that Shahh Deniz gas field is one of the largest fields.
"It is urgent mater to choose the transportation route that will deliver gas from this field to Europe," he said.
According to Hendry, Europe as well as Great Britain should be seeking the pipeline decision that will be commercially viable.
"We want to secure our energy supplies and have new transportation routes. This issue is important for Azerbaijan as well," he added.
Regarding the other countries with gas resources such as Turkmenistan and Iraq, he believes that these volumes can be used at the further stages.
