Uzbek President Islam Karimov has appointed Viktor Makhmudov Secretary of National Security Council of the Republic, the presidential administration told Trend on Saturday.
Until now, Lieutenant General Mahmudov worked as the First Deputy Defense Minister and Chief of the General Staff under the Defense Ministry.
Mahmudov was born in 1968. He graduated from the Tashkent Military Command School.
According to the presidential decree, Bahodir Toshmatov, former Secretary of the Security Council, was appointed the first deputy head of the Defense Ministry.
Shavkat Normatov was appointed the First Deputy Defense Minister and Chief of General Staff of the Defense Ministry. Earlier, he worked as Deputy Defense Minister.
