Iran has acquired license for building domestically made "Shahed" helicopters and maritime patrol "Iran-140" planes, IRIB News reported.

Iranian Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi was present at the ceremony that was held due to the event.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vahidi noted that by acquiring such license, Iran shows how much its developers and experts have gone forward in the field of manufacturing helicopters and planes.

Vahidi also said that Iran's manufacturing of Shahed helicopters and Iran-140 and fully meet international standards.

"Today we can proudly claim that Iran can manufacture heavy cargo planes by itself," Vahidi added.

Iran has already been manufacturing Shahed helicopters. Shahed 285 light attack/reconnaissance helicopter was developed in Iran, and unveiled on May 24, 2009. It has been manufactured in two versions - as a light attack/recon copter, and a maritime patrol/anti-ship copter.

The Shahed 285 is based on the composite Shahed-278, which is a relatively light helicopter with 682 kg of empty weight. Shahed 285 is a single-seater and is intended for military use.

As for Iran-140, Iran modified a russian model of "Antonov An-140". Iran-140 is a short-range twin-turboprop airliner, which is able to seat 52 passengers, land on a dirt airstrip and fly almost 3,000 km (1,900 mi) before refueling. It can be configured to carry passengers, cargo, or a combination of the two.
