BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 25. Azerbaijan is a committed member of the Intra-European Organisation of Tax Administrations (IOTA), IOTA Executive Secretary Alix Perrignon de Troyes told reporters at the international carbon pricing forum in Baku, Trend reports.
"Azerbaijan has been elected as the chair of IOTA for 2024-2025. Over the years, Azerbaijan has consistently demonstrated its commitment to the organization. The theme of today's forum is crucial as it addresses climate change issues. The main activity of IOTA revolves around sharing knowledge and best practices among its members," she stated.
Perrignon de Troyes noted that one of the key objectives of the event is to facilitate knowledge exchange regarding carbon pricing initiatives and to promote collaboration among countries in this area.
She emphasized that to limit global warming to 1.5°C to 2°C, emissions must be reduced by 25-50 percent compared to levels before 2019.
"It is vital to share experiences and understand how countries implement carbon taxation. I believe this forum will be an important step in deepening dialogue among tax authorities and will lay a solid foundation for future cooperation and development," she added.
The international forum on carbon pricing in Baku is attended by Azerbaijan's Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov, Head of the State Tax Service Orkhan Nazarli, and other officials. Delegations from over 40 countries, including leading foreign experts and specialists, are attending the event.
