Azerbaijan, Baku, 8 July / corr. Trend I.Khalilova / The Azerbaijani Export and Investment Promotion Fund (AZPROMO) considered inexpedient to open its office in the Southern Federal District of Russia in 2008, Emil Aliyev, the director of the Export Promotion Department of AZPROMO, said. Aliyev said that currently, it was the priority for the Fund to open its Office in Turkmenistan.
Delay with the Russian office is connected with ban on land operations in Sochi. However, the Fund considers two more versions - Krasnodar or Rostov. Opening of the office in the Southern federal region of Russia depends on the extent of interest of the Azerbaijani companies in Russia.
Despite of changes in plans, AZPROMO is prepared to take events in the Southern federal region within 2008. Aliyev said that the Azerbaijani companies may be represented in the field of service, but generally the food and textile markets in Russia are of great interest, he said.
The choice of the Southern federal region is connected with Azerbaijani exporters' ambitions with respect to neighboring regions. AZPROMO does not use the potential of neighboring countries to Azerbaijan, whilst intends to begin with the development of this system.
The first office of AZPROMO opened in Western Kazakhstan (Aktau) in 2007.
The exchange rate for US dollar was AZN 0.809 on 8 July.
