WB reviewing agricultural project implementation in Azerbaijan

A review mission of the World Bank (WB) is in Azerbaijan, the WB Baku Office told Trend Jan. 18.

The mission’s purpose is to review the implementation of the Agricultural Competitiveness Improvement Project (ACIP), according to the Baku Office.

“The mission is headed by the project’s manager Rufiz Chiragzade. The mission will be in Azerbaijan until late January,” said the organization’s Baku Office.

The Agricultural Competitiveness Improvement Project was approved on Sept. 30, 2013 and it costs $53.25 million.

The purpose of the project is to facilitate the access of agricultural producers to markets by strengthening sanitary and phytosantiary services, enhancing selected value chains, and providing financial services to agricultural business enterprises.

The project is expected to end on Dec. 31, 2018. Azerbaijan has been a WB member since 1992.
