By Ali Mustafayev – Trend:

The growth of Kazakhstan's gross domestic product (GDP) in 2018 is expected at 2.9 percent, the National Bank of Kazakhstan said in a message.

The same indicator for the first 9 months will amount to 2.8 percent, according to the National Bank.

"The growth of investments in fixed assets continues to support the growth rate of the economy. We expect the current moderate growth rate of investments to continue to be maintained amid the expansion of production activity, as well as the restoration of domestic consumption," the message said.

The National Bank also expects positive growth rates of wages and, as a result, real incomes of Kazakhstan’s population, in view of slowdown in inflation processes.

The growth of imports of consumer and investment goods, as a result of expansion of domestic demand, will act as a deterrent to GDP growth.

In the previous assessment of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, the growth of Kazakhstan's gross domestic product in 2018 was expected at 2.8 percent.
