In 2010, Azerikimya State-Owned Company was transferred to SOCAR. Azerikimya, now under the umbrella of SOCAR, operates an ethylene-polyethylene plant (EP-300, Polymer-120) along with an isopropyl alcohol production unit, steam and electric energy production, and a repair and construction division.
Since the transfer to SOCAR, significant efforts have been made to ensure stable raw material supply to the plant's facilities, enhance product quality, and increase production capacity. Notably, modern facilities such as a nitrogen-oxygen complex, water-cooling device, absolute isopropyl alcohol section, equipment for the removal of sulphur compounds from the propane-propylene fraction, and a hydrogenation unit for the butane-butylene fraction have been constructed and are now operational. Additionally, the central laboratory has been equipped with state-of-the-art instruments following the reconstruction.
The main phase of the ambitious project for large-scale modernization and reconstruction of Azerikimya's Ethylene-Polyethylene Plant was successfully completed in 2022. This significant milestone marks a step forward in improving efficiency, productivity, and the overall operations of Azerikimya, supporting its role within the SOCAR portfolio.
