Passenger transportation via Iran’s Mashhad International Airport up

The number of passengers transported through the Shahid Hasheminejad International Airport in Mashhad, Razavi Khorasan Province (north-eastern Iran) increased by 72 percent, during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through January 20, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, as was reflected in the statistics of Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company (IAC), Trend reports.

According to the statistics, 4,222,020 passengers were transported through the airport in 10 months. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at 2,460,217.

“A total of 38,879 flights (passenger planes) were carried out from the Mashhad Airport within 10 months, which is an increase of 73 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, the number of flights from the airport amounted to 22,445 in the same period last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

Over 10 months, 41,146 tons of cargo were transported through Mashhad Airport. Cargo transportation increased by 99 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. Thus, 20,706 tons of cargo had been transported through this airport in the same period last Iranian year.

The Mashhad Shahid Hasheminejad International Airport is located on an area of 540 hectares. It is the second busiest airport in Iran after Tehran's Mehrabad Airport.
