ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 30. Kazakhstan and Tajikistan have spotted the possibility of joint development of fields and the implementation of projects on the territory of Tajikistan, Trend reports.

Relevant discussions took place during intergovernmental negotiations in Dushanbe during the visit of Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov to Tajikistan.

The Kazakh side also noted that the country has large production capacities for railway equipment for the Tajik railways. The Aktobe plant is ready to cooperate in the supply of rail and beam products.

There is also the possibility of increasing the export volumes of locomotives, diesel locomotives, switches, transformers, agricultural machinery, batteries, and vehicles produced in Kazakhstan.

At the same time, the parties discussed the bilateral agenda of cooperation in the water sector, which is strengthening every year and is characterized by a high level of mutual understanding.

Among the new areas of cooperation is the area of digitalization, where, as part of the implementation of high-level agreements, Kazakhstan has begun work to assist Tajikistan in the deployment of its own national e-government system, eGOV.

To note, the volume of trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan amounted to $1.13 billion in 2023. The structure of trade is dominated by Kazakh exports to Tajikistan, which totaled $860 million, while imports from Tajikistan amounted to $271 million.
