The Iranian parliament adopted a decision today to produce nuclear fuel in the country, the Fars news agency reported.

The Iranian parliament adopted a decision today to produce nuclear fuel in the country, the Fars news agency reported.

Based on the resolution, the government will develop all of local technologies required for the various stages of nuclear fuel production.

The government will also continue its uranium enrichment program to produce uranium fuel on industrial scales (3.5 percent enrichment) and for nuclear laboratories (20 percent).

The resolution states that Tehran must implement its activities in line with the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. Some 134 voters voted in favor of the paragraph. Two MPs voted against and eight abstained.

Another paragraph states that if Iranian aircrafts and ships are inspected by a foreign country, then Iran will carry out similar inspections of that country's aircrafts and ships.

Some 141 voters voted in favor of the paragraph. Four MPs voted against and seven abstained.
